Haley (Nae Nae) Renee' Walley ALBANY-Honorary Marine Haley Renee' Walley was born on January 15, 1999 and is the beloved daughter of GySgt. George Raymond Walley & Rachel Renee' Walley and younger sister to Austin Montgomery Walley she gained her beautiful angel wings to her eternal life on August,30 1999 at 1:30 p.m. due to a rare brain tumor. Haley was diagnosed with DIPG on March 17, 2014. DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glomma) is a disease which strikes at the heart of childhood and it is a disease in desperate need of a cure. And at the same time, there may be no better place to start the search for a homerun cure for cancer. DIPG affects the pons portion of the brainstem, rendering nervous system function impossible. Symptoms include double vision, inability to close the eyelids completely, dropping one side of the face, and difficulty chewing and swallowing. Unfortunately these symptoms usually worsen rapidly because the tumor is rapidly growing. DIPG, for all its difficulties, presents an opportunity for all forms of cancer. It is one of the most resistant of all cancers to chemotherapy treatments; it affects primarily children (whose treatment has historically led to innovations in many other forms of cancer), and with a "dismal" prognosis, alternatives are few. Put together, these obstacles offer researchers a chance to revolutionize cancer research and prevention. It is even suggested that a cure to DIPG might result in a cure for almost every other type of cancer. For this reason, the search for a cure starts now this was Haley's dream. Haley is also survived by a very huge extended family that loved her as their own Shawn, Chris, Jennifer, Alecia , Jackson and Fallon Phelps of Leesburg, Ga, Mamma Courtney, Daddy Rob, Dylan, & Devon Russell of Leesburg, Ga., Mamma Staci, Daddy Michael & Elli-Lenea (Bug a nickname given by Haley) Bryant of Leesburg, Ga. Haley's very best friends Courtney Monroe, Ozzy Howell, & Chase Graham all of Leesburg, Ga., Uncle Douglas Day & Aunt Penni Day of Annapolis, MD., Uncle Fred Pasho of Anchorage, AS, Uncle Hank Adams of Raceland, LA , Uncle Windell Holtzclaw of Ga. Aunt Angie Riner & Braden of The family extends a very special thanks to first and foremost Her Marines (Semper Fi) as she would call them, to Hospice, Shands Cancer Research Hospital in Gainesville, FL, her absolutely amazing Doctor Charles Mendenhall, a very dear family friend Staci Bryant for all the long hours she took care of Haley and never left her side. Haley's hospice nurse she adored Selena, another very amazing lady and friend 1Sgt. Rhonda Pettit who served as her Honor Guard as the family said their last goodbyes. To her beloved teachers and friends that helped her stand strong in her fight, and to all those not specifically mentioned the family wants you to know you have not been forgotten Haley was loved and adored by many, and to name all of you is impossible Haley sees all of you and is smiling down on all of us as she dances with angels. Haley is preceded in death by her grandfather's Joel C. Culpepper of Long Beach, MS and George R. Walley of Bay. St. Louis, MS, Grandmother Mary Culpepper of, and Uncle Joey S. Culpepper of Michigan., and cousins Tommy Breland and Randy Humble of Michigan ,and Aunt Karen Pasho. Haley was a huge fan of the college football team UGA and as she would say, "HOW BOUT THEM DAWGGS!" She never met a stranger and had a smile that pierced the heart and would lift you up no matter who you were. A heart of gold isn't enough words to describe her bubbly personality. Haley had a fight in her that was as I quote her father was" Marine Tough"; she never gave up and fought hard. Haley's strength was heroic and for that she was presented with the Honorary Marine Award by 1sg. Rhonda Pettit on March 28, 2014. She was proud of her daddy who served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and all Her Marines. Haley fought her fight with dignity, passion, honor, a smile, but most of all selflessness nothing brought her down, stopped her from fighting or her big dream of one day finding a cure for all cancer or fighting it. As I close this her legacy and her memories will go on for she was a Marine and never fought it alone for below are words are so bold and true, that mean so much and describe Haley through and through.
