Mrs. Virginia Crowley Monahan

Virginia Monahan was born on October 19th, 1925 to Frank and Ethel Crowley in Parsons, West Virginia and was reunited with her husband in heaven on January 13th, 2016. She received her BSN from Adelphi College, School of Nursing in New York. Ginny was married to the love of her life, Thomas William Monahan Jr. for 50 years. They traveled during his years in the Air Force and settled in Albany, Ga in 1959. Ginny started and ran the well-baby clinic on NAS for over 15 years where she made house calls on new mothers and their infants in addition to seeing babies in the hospital. Ginny was an avid reader and she loved her time spent at the library. She loved her family and her dogs, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. Ginny was proud of her collection of African Violets and always displayed them in the front window of her home. She is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas William Monahan III and his wife Lorrie of Albany, 3 daughters, Margaret “Peg” McLean and her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Brian McLean of Prattville, AL, Kathleen Rush of Columbia, SC and Eileen Workman and her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Carl Workman of Fort Walton Beach, FL, 10 grandchildren, Dr. Thomas William Monahan IV and his wife Dr. Kimberly “Kim” Monahan, Dr. Michael Blair Monahan, Dr. Elizabeth Lauren Monahan, Alexander “Alex” Watson McLean, Mary Eileen McLean, Kathleen “Katie” Charlot Rush, Maura Eileen Rush, Kathleen “Katie” Elizabeth Workman, Kerry Maureen Workman Duval and her husband Ryan and Kelly Eileen Workman, two great grandchildren, Deborah “Debbie” Monahan and Thomas “Will” William Monahan V Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass to be held in Virginia’s honor on Monday, January 18th, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa’s Church on Edgewood Ln to be officiated by Rev. Ray Levreault with a eulogy presented by Britt Priddy. Virginia will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Andersonville National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406 or to the Albany Humane Society, 1705 Oakridge Dr., Albany, GA 31701.
