Velma Ida Sheppard, 90 of Albany died April 18, 2006 at her residence at Morningside of Albany.The graveside service will be Monday 10 AM at Oakview Cemetery. Dr. William E. (Butch) Knight, Jr. officiating. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Albany 400 Pine Avenue Albany, Georgia 31701 and Albany Community Hospice P.O. 1828 Albany, Georgia 31702 or to your favorite charity.Born July 1, 1915 in Hilliardville, Florida, Miss Sheppard called Albany her home since moving here in 1947. She had worked at Turner Air Force Field. Miss Sheppard enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for friends and family. She was known for her famous cakes and meals that she delivered to homebound friends. She loved her church spending many years teaching children's Sunday school and enjoying the fellowship of her Joy Group.Miss Sheppard leaves a loving family. Survivors include her beloved caregiversand nephew Tom Moody (wife Marjorie) of Tallahassee, Florida; sister-in-law ElizabethSheppard Megrail, of Pickens, South Carolina; nephew Tom Sheppard (wife Connie) ofLiberty, South Carolina; two nieces, Judy Lewis of Athens, Georgia and Ann Cox(husband Jimmy) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; two great nephews: Andrew Lewis ofAtlanta, Georgia and Joel Sheppard of Liberty, South Carolina; great nieces: Rachel CoxVonIns (husband Chris) of Winder, Georgia, Fran Lewis of Athens, Georgia, MarilynMoody Pendleton (husband David) of Suwannee, Georgia, her namesake, Velma LeaMoody Proctor (husband Theo) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Carol, Elise, Iris and AmySheppard all of Liberty, South Carolina; great-great nieces Jenni Pendleton of SuwanneeGeorgia, Megan Proctor and Emily Proctor of Tallahassee, Florida; great-great nephewChristopher Pendleton of Suwannee, Georgia; beloved cousin, Tony Royal of Kodac,Tennessee; and longtime dear friends Charles and Ira McGhee of Albany, Georgia.
