Mrs. Mary Jean Ridley

October 30, 1933 - June 3, 2022

Mrs. Mary Jean Ridley, 88, formerly of Albany, died Friday, June 3 at her residence in Dacula, Ga. A longtime resident of Albany, Mrs. Ridley was a member of First Baptist Church. Born October 30, 1933, she was the daughter of John B. and Florence Chapman of Chula, Ga. Mrs. Ridley and her husband, Nat, were actively involved at First Baptist where they made lifelong friends. She spent her professional life in education, including as a paraprofessional in the Dougherty County School System. She served as preschool director and nursery coordinator at First Baptist Church for many years. She retired in 1995, after which she was active in ministry organizations at FBC, as well as enjoying travel and visits with her family. Mrs. Ridley had a wry sense of humor, a demanding sweet tooth, and a deep-seated love for her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nat Ridley; her parents; and her sisters, Joy Chapman Thomas, and Susan Chapman. Survivors include her three children, David Ridley and his wife Glenda, of Charleston, SC; daughter Anna McDonald, of Dacula, GA; son John Ridley and his wife Julie, of Marietta, GA; her eight grandchildren, Catherine Ridley, Stephen Ridley, Laura Hunter, Matthew McDonald, Mary Kate McDonald, Emily Moraru, Rebekah Ridley, and Jeannie Ridley; three great grandchildren, Luke and Audrey Hunter, and Nathan Ridley; and brother John Chapman, of Sylvester, GA. She was extremely proud of her family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, at Kimbrell Stern Funeral Home at 3:00pm, with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service. Precious to the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15.
