John Murray Blackstock
January 19, 1955 - May 29, 2022
John Murray Blackstock died Sunday, May 29th after a long illness. The son of the late John L. Blackstock and Ruth Gibson Blackstock, and grandson of Young Solomon and Hattie Murray Blackstock, and George A. and Willie Tison Gibson. He was born in Dawson, Georgia on January 19, 1955. After attending the Dawson Public Schools and Terrell Academy he began his career as a Master Mechanic. Fittingly, as the grandson of Mr. Gibson who introduced the Spanish Peanut to Terrell County, he specialized in agricultural machinery, working for over 40 years at farms and plantations throughout Southwest Georgia. He is survived by his sister, June Blackstock Pierce (France) of Parrott, Georgia and his two special Heart Daughters, Jordan Grubbs Cannady (Stephan) and Hannah Grubbs. Services will be held at the Bronwood Methodist Church in Bronwood Friday June 3rd at 2:00PM followed by Committal at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson. There will be a visitation at the church from 1:00PM to 2:00PM. Those wishing to make a donation in Murray's memory may do so at The Bronwood Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
