Mr. James Edward "Jimmie" McDonald

April 7, 1938 - May 29, 2022

James Edward “Jimmie” McDonald passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Wynfield Park Health and Rehab. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with Rev. Doug Eason officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. McDonald was born on April 7, 1938, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, George R. and Lucile Ranew McDonald. Mr. McDonald grew up in Albany with his many cousins. He attended Albany High School where he enjoyed playing basketball. He worked with his father at McDonald Sheet Metal and Construction, with Rushton Brothers Construction and later with David Rushton. In the spring of 1958, Jimmy met Emily Barney who had moved to Albany from Butler, GA. Six months later, on November 6, they married. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary last November. Through the years, Jimmie and Emily enjoyed springtime vacations at the beach. They made friends with several other families on those vacations. Mr. McDonald was active in several churches as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. In recent years, a favorite past time has been watching the Atlanta Braves. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Emily Barney McDonald.
