Mrs. Helen Louise Rouse Lipsey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Louise Rouse Lipsey, 89, of Albany, died peacefully Friday, February 22, 2019 in Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Kimbrell-Stern at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev Mark Hudgins will officiate. Louise was born in Doerun, GA, to the late George and Mittie West. She was the oldest of six siblings and grew up in Albany. She graduated with honors from Albany High School in 1946. She worked as a bookkeeper throughout her career, spending the majority of her working years as office manager and Treasurer with Lipsey Mechanical, Inc. She was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church for more than 70 years, where she faithfully served in the church nursery for 18 years. Louise was a Charter member of Women in Construction (WIC), elected WIC of the year in 1973 and continued to volunteer through the organization after her retirement. Louise was an avid walker, reader of all things related to good health, extremely organized, smart, resourceful, cheerful, loving, strong and resilient. She will be remembered for her love of God and family, work ethic, generosity, her positive outlook, love for a good bargain, and the many precious memories of those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Gordon Rouse and wife, Diane of Albany, Connie Griggers and husband, Chuck of Macon, GA, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, her brother, Harold West and wife, Sandy of Leesburg, 3 sisters, Betty Mills of Byron, GA, Jean Mills Phillips of Smithville, GA, Sandra Nicely and husband, Brent of Cleveland, TN, sister-in-law Eliza West of The Villages, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mittie West of Pecan City, her first husband of 51 years, Cecil G. Rouse, Sr., second husband of almost 7 years, Paul D. Lipsey, Jr., her daughter, Helen Louise McDaniel, granddaughter, Kimberly McDaniel Schmeltzer, her brother, George West, Jr. and brother-in-laws Erle Mills, Oliver Mills and Ray Phillips.
