Mrs. Cornelia Morgan Speer

Cornelia Morgan Speer, 91, died peacefully on September 29, 2016. Mrs. Speer was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and the Martha Sunday School Class. She Loved the Lord and her church family. She was a member of the Thronateeska Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Smart Ladies Investment Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilly Godwin Morgan and Joe Morgan of Vienna, GA; her husband of 65 years, Thompson King Speer and her sister, Mollie Henley of Cordele, GA. She is survived by her three sons: T.K. “Tommy” Speer Jr. and wife Lisa of Dallas, GA, Kenneth S. Speer and wife Patricia of Greer, SC, and Kevin J. Speer and wife Patty of Midlothian, VA; her niece, Martha Johnston and her husband Ray, who assisted in her care; her ten grandchildren, Lynsey Speer Howell (Lou) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Morgan Speer Charterina (Michael) of NJ, T.K. Speer III, Joe Speer, Mary Bess Speer Champion (Chris), Racheal Anne Speer Gazaway (Chase) all of Marietta, Amy Lynn Speer of Michigan, Harrison Collin Speer, Ryland Jefferson Speer, and Griffin King Speer of Midlothian, VA; her great-grandchildren; her brother, Joe Morgan, Jr. of Roswell, GA., and several nieces and nephews. King and Cornelia were married for 65 years and he was the love of her life. She enjoyed telling stories about the boys growing up. She was a very loving and thoughtful person. She had a full and interesting life. She attended college at Georgia Southwestern College and graduated from Oglethorpe University. She worked for the GA Department of Labor assisting people with attaining jobs. She obtained her real estate broker license and enjoyed selling real estate in Georgia and Palo Alto, California. The family would like express their gratitude, for the kindness and care shown by the personnel of Morningside/ Phoebe Senior Living, Wynfield Park Health and Rehab and Albany Community Hospice for the comfort given to Cornelia. They would like to thank past sitters, Angela Love and Bobbie Edwards, and present sitter, Lucile James for their love and support. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 3rd at Kimbrell-Stern, funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM also at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA. The service will be officiated by The Rev. Charlie Brown.
