Mrs. Theresa Hutchings Webb

Theresa Hutchings Webb, 84, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died Saturday, April 16, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Porterfield United Memorial Methodist Church. The Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor will officiate. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Monday (Today) from 5-6:30 PM. Theresa was a native of Albany, Georgia, having been born at Phoebe Putney Hospital on March 5, 1932. She graduated from Albany High School and matriculated to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she met her future husband, Murray Webb. They moved back to Albany in 1959 where they began their lives together. Recently Theresa and her family opened Murray’s Office, LLC, a real estate property management company. She was actively engaged in the business until her death. Theresa was a lifelong member of Porterfield United Memorial Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Covenant Bible Study Group. She was also a member of the Palmyra Heights Garden Club, and Doublegate Country Club. Theresa was known and loved by many for her wit and wisdom and her lively sense of humor. She was also known for her stoicism and dignity, as witnessed by the behavior she exhibited when she discovered she had a terminal illness. She never questioned her fate; instead, she fought bravely to comfort those who were so saddened by her circumstances. Theresa was a consummate caretaker and friend to all who knew her, and she will especially be missed by her family and wonderful friends. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alice Hutchings, and her husband, Murray Webb; she is survived by her son and his wife, Bill and Carol Webb of Fayetteville, Georgia; her daughter, Sally Webb Schatz of Albany, Georgia; her grandchildren, Murray Webb of Atlanta, Georgia; Taylor and Elizabeth Webb of Birmingham, Alabama; and Sarah Schatz of Washington, D. C. Lastly, she leaves her beloved Cavalier Spaniel, Ellie Webb, and her granddog, Sister Schatz, to mourn her passing. Honorary pallbearers include her good friends Mary George, Mary Faulk, Louise Shiloh, Crystal Cherry, Pat Pritchett, Nona Persall, Sandra Reese, Dee Matthews, Brenda Flynn, Teresa Maloof, Audrey Dozier, Annette Cromartie, Calista Langstaff, Martha Hester, Carolyn Hollis, Evans Plowden and Leonard Lawless. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Porterfield United Memorial Methodist Church or Albany Community Hospice.
