Ray L. Godbee Obituary

Ray L. Godbee, Jr., 76, of Albany, died Monday, January 17, 2005 at his home following an illness.His funeral service will be THURSDAY 11 AM at Sherwood Baptist Church with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Pollock and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Survivors include his wife: Harriet Godbee, Albany; a daughter: Mary I. Anderson and her husband Garland, Albany; a son: James D. Ingram and his wife Martha, Greensboro, NC; a granddaughter: Ami Ingram Fillippa and her husband Dominic, Houston, TX; a great grandson: Nic Fillippa; a brother: Jack C. Godbee and his wife Betty, Moultrie; a niece: Jackie Allen; a nephew: Ross Godbee. Ray L. Godbee, Jr. was born August 24, 1928 in Albany, Georgia. He attended and graduated from Albany High School. During his working career he worked for the Georgia State Highway Department for approximately 10 years. He then worked for the Georgia Cooperative Service for the Blind and operated the concession stand at Albany Vocational School for 23 years. Ray was a charter member and an inactive deacon at Sherwood Baptist Church. On January 17, 2005 at approximately 2:00 PM, Ray passed from this life on earth to his heavenly home to spend eternity with Jesus. His passing was without pain or suffering. Ray's loved ones and friends that he left behind all celebrate his passing because of their confidence in knowing that Ray is in a better place. Ray's family and friends that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ look forward to the day when they will also pass from this life to have a reunion with Ray in Heaven. One of Ray's primary wishes was that he would be able to see those he loved again in heaven. Anyone who wishes to see Ray again in Heaven can be assured of seeing him by only one way. That way is thru Jesus Christ. All one has to do is surrender their life to Jesus and proclaim Him their Lord and Savior, repent of sins, and ask Jesus to forgive them of those sins. Salvation and assurance of being in Heaven with Ray is a free gift of God thru His Son Jesus Christ. Ray's life reflected the love of Jesus and his family will surely miss him here on earth.
