Phyllis Ann Eckler Saylor of Bradenton, Florida died Saturday October 13th surrounded by family and friends.Phyllis was born in Covington, KY June 3rd, 1943 the oldest daughter of country musician Garner "Pop" Eckler and Helen Gervaise (Eckler) Browning. She was raised in Albany, Georgia and graduated from Albany High School in 1961.She was dedicated to her family and moved to Florida in 1999 to be near her grandchildren. Phyllis was an active member of Sarasota Baptist Church, Lakewood Ranch Campus. She always had a kind word and took genuine joy in serving others.Phyllis worked as a volunteer docent at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. She studied art history in her spare time to give every visitor the best possible experience. Her tours often started with a handful of people and ended with dozens flocking to hear what she had to say.Her boundless energy and passion to learn took her around the world. Some of her favorite adventures included trips to Paris, Rome, Hawaii and Las Vegas with her mother.She was preceded in death by her parents, Garner Eckler and Helen Gervaise Eckler Browning.Survivors include: Her husband of 46 years William Jerry Saylor of Bradenton, FL; 3 children, Lisa Diane Saylor Biach of Bradenton, FL, Michael Jerry Saylor of Arlington, VA, and Stephen Mark Saylor of Hollywood, CA; two beautiful granddaughters, Victoria Lynn Biach and Lauren Elizabeth Biach of Bradenton, FL; 2 brothers, Joe Mack Eckler Sr. of Albany, Georgia and Jimmie Lee Eckler of Pasadena, Texas; and 1 sister Joy Lynn Eckler Ballard of Orange Park, FL; 2 uncles, Alvin Vann (Hilda) of Sasser, GA, Sherman Vann (Eleanor) of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 aunts, Nancy Vann Barronton (Tom) of Valley Grande, Alabama, Earline Vann of Edison, GA, Anita Vann of Columbus, GA; 1 brother-in-law Floyd Gene Saylor (Millie) of Marianna, FL; 2 sisters-in-law, Sandra Saylor Crane (Jerry) of Greenville, South Carolina, Ginger Saylor of Athens, TX and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.Memorial services will be held Friday, October 19th at 11am at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.
