Mrs. Pam Tyler Johnston

Carolyn Pamela Tyler Johnston (Pam), 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on October 13, 2016 in Albany, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. William “Biff” Coker will officiate. The family will receive friends at Covenant at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Pam was born July 12, 1937 in Albany, Ga. She graduated from Albany High School in 1955 where she was the head majorette and avid member of the marching band. She attended Auburn University where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. Pam married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Proctor Morgan Johnston Jr. on December 28, 1956. A long, happy marriage spent traveling the world together, they were excited to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this December. Their marriage serves as a testament and the embodiment of true love to their family and friends. Pam was known and loved by many for her wit and wisdom and her lively sense of humor. Her charitable nature and quick wit made her a pleasure to be around and she will be remembered fondly by the members of the many organizations she served with. Pam was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Albany, the Suburban Women's Club, Life Member of the Charity League, many bridge clubs, Porterfield Covenant Wednesday Morning Bible Study, the "Go Girls", a lively group of friends who traveled together, and volunteered at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for years. Music played a central theme throughout her life from her days as a majorette, to playing the piano, and later singing in the choir at Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was also a faithful member of the Jubilee Sunday School. Pam was a consummate caretaker and friend to all who knew her and she will especially be missed by her family and wonderful friends. Most important to her was her family who loved her fiercely. Pam was preceded in death by her parents Thelma Henderson and Thomas Leon Tyler, and brother, Leon Bennett Tyler. She is survived by her devoted husband, Proctor Morgan Johnston Jr., her loving son Proctor Morgan Johnston III, her daughter and best friend Lisa Willis ( husband Rocky Willis) and her brother in law, Steve Howard Johnston (wife Kate). She was beloved "Nanny" to grandchildren Morgan Seegmueller Burnette (husband Jason Burnette), Tyler Malone Seegmueller, Proctor Morgan Johnston IV, and Raines Elizabeth Johnston, and her cherished Yorkshire terrier, Rigsby, all who adored her.
