Mr. Milburn Leroy Thacker

Mr. Milburn Leroy Thacker, 92, of Leesburg died Thursday August 13, 2015 at Willson Hospice House. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday August 16, 2015 at Thundering Springs Cemetery, Grave Springs Rd., Leesburg, GA with Dr. Todd Sullens officiating. Mr. Thacker was born on January 12, 1923 in Mena, AK to the late Lester and Willie Leming Thacker. As a young boy, he moved with his mother to Texas. Mr. Thacker was a WW II Veteran of the Army Air Corp. where he served as a MP while stationed in Miami Beach, FL. It was there that he met his wife, Laleah Thacker. After being honorably discharged, he moved his family to Escondido, CA where he worked on Wolford Ranch. Mr. Thacker studied hard to become a Caterpillar Mechanic while working for San Diego Tractor & Equipment Company which later became Hawthorne Machinery Company. In 1967 he moved his family to Albany, GA where he worked for the Carlton Company until his retirement. Even after retiring, he continued to work hard each day and was an inspiration to others in his life. Mr. Thacker enjoyed going to swap meets and spending Saturday mornings at the Flea Market. He liked to help his friends and neighbors by working on lawn mowers for them. Mr. Thacker is survived by his daughters, Brenda Milling (Calvin) of Leesburg and Linda Cormack (Doug) of Waverly Hall, GA; sons, Roland Thacker (Marsha) of Pine Mountain, GA and Noland Thacker (Yolanda) of Leesburg; grandchildren, Dennis Cormack, Charlene Milling, Kimberly Springer, Josh Thacker, Jacob Thacker, Hannah Thacker, Claire Tilkinton, Will Tilkinton, Calvin Milling, Jr. and Charlie Milling; great grandson, Mason Springer; numerous cousins and special friends, Cecil Rustin, Kelly Brown and Billy Alcon. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
