Juliana Murphy Norman

Juliana Murphy Norman passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA on November 8th, 2025. She went into the arms of Jesus while listening to her favorite music, her family telling old stories, and hearing the sweetest baby babbles from her three month old only grand-baby, Hollis Murphy. Juliana, “Julie”, was often described as “the sweetest soul you could ever meet”. She never, ever met a stranger and had a special way with those who couldn’t speak up for themselves, babies, animals, and the handicapped included. A lover of all animals (yes- even spiders) the ocean, Jesus, cooking and books, she embodied serenity even in her hobbies. You couldn’t visit Julie without her feeding you SOMETHING. Be it a 5 course meal she had been planning for weeks on her finest china, or her personal favorite: a midnight scrambled egg, mayo, and white bread sandwich on a paper plate (always had to make an extra one to share with her dog- a habit her daughter now shares) Julie wanted to make sure you were fed. And there was always plenty of ice cold coca-cola to wash it down with. Julie loved to give to people. Give her time, give her opinion, or her favorite, give gifts. She spent weeks coming up with the perfect, sentimental gifts every holiday. She wanted others to feel touched by her offerings, to know that they were understood and cherished. She was sentimental about everything and created so many traditions in her home that she passed down to her daughter. Julie was a soft breeze by the beach, a cool dip in the pool on a hot day, and a healing bubble bath at the end of a long week. She always offered comfort and kindness to others, even when she didn’t have any for herself. Julie is survived by her daughter, Allie Steinberg (Eric) of Decatur, GA, and a brand new grand baby, Hollis (Holli as she liked to call her) Murphy Steinberg; her mother Lucy Murphy; sisters Brenda (Al), Karen (Randy), Gina (Mark); brother Peter (Andrea); her niece who was like a daughter to her, Hannah Murphy; and her beloved dog, Marley. As well as many special friends that she had held close to her heart all of her life, including, but not limited to, Jules, Elizabeth, MC, and Kathleen. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Murphy and his wife, Joann, and many adored pets that were for sure were waiting for her on the other side. As per her wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Albany Humane Society and/or Hand, Hoof, and Heart (unless it’s stargazer lilies, she really, really, loved stargazer lilies). “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46: 1-3
