Mrs. Hazel Heard Wilson

Hazel Wynona Heard Wilson died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at First Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Rev. Billy Hanna will officiate with a private interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Hazel and Bill relocated from Bainbridge, GA to Albany, GA in 1950, for Bill to begin work with the Albany Fire Department. Most of this time Hazel was a stay at home mom. In the early 1960’s she studied Cosmetology at Albany Technical College. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, she opened her own beauty salon in 1963 where she worked until her retirement in April of 1985. Hazel was an active member of First Freewill Baptist Church where she continued to attend services and Bible study on Wednesdays when her health permitted. She liked doing things with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend. She will be missed but is united with her family in her eternal home- what a comfort and blessing to know. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Ellis and her husband, Jim, of Cairo, GA, a son, Billy Wilson and his wife, Gail, of Leesburg, GA, grandchildren, Tracy Ellis-Riley and her husband, Jeff, of Fairhope, AL, Trent Ellis and his wife Kim, of Mandeville, LA, Stan Ellis and his wife, Jennifer, of Spring Hill, TN, Carmen Miller and her husband, Cory, of Okinawa, Japan and Christopher Wilson of Atlanta, GA, great grandchildren, John Madison and Ellie Riley of Fairhope, AL, Max and Lillie Ellis of Spring Hill, TN, Elizabeth Ellis of Mandeville, LA, Skylar Tison, Allie and Jaxon Miller of Okinawa, Japan, sister and brother in law, Norma and Curtis Wacaser of Bainbridge, GA, sister in law, Lillian Heard of Albany, GA and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellie and Ruby Heard, her husband, William H. Wilson, brothers, Oren, Carl and Van Heard, sisters, Voncile Clark and Lottie Cross and a great grandson, Thomas Ellis Riley.
