Mr. Harold Dean Sizemore Obituary

Mr. Harold Dean Sizemore, 67 was born May 20, 1947 in Worth Co., GA and died July 24, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. As a great pastor once asked, "What is the life in the dash?" My brother was not a "great" man, but he was a good man. From the world's point of view, you could say he was a "Man's Man. He was the seventh child in a family of eleven. He lived his life the way he chose with no excuses and did not measure himself by the standards of others. Some would say (myself included) he was hard-headed, stubborn and had enormous will power. He did. He loved to laugh, play practical jokes and enjoy life to the fullest. He was a man of great passion. He was also a man of great compassion, he always stood for the underdog. He loved beyond reason and was a protector of the innocent. He was like a great and mighty wind storm at times and at others was as gentle as a lamb. He was the man that would fight for you and protect you against all odds when no one else would (he did for me and so many others). He was a man of his word; he never backed down. He could spin a yarn ten miles long and have you belly laughing the whole time. He loved his wife, children and grand children and showed it in so many ways. He loved his brothers, sisters and truly loved his mother. He contributed to the well being of his mother all of her elderly days. He gave when he really could not afford to, but he gave anyway. He was my "Hero" when I was a child, my embarrassment when I was a teenager, and my "Hero" and "Champion" again when I was an adult. He was my brother and friend to many. If you were fortunate enough to call him friend, then he was a friend indeed. He was there in good times and bad, no matter what. He was the "apple" of his mother's eye. He could make her furious and make her laugh all at the same time. He was an electrician by trade and at different times worked with "Georgia Power", "The Foundry" in Columbus, GA and "Dolly Madison" in Columbus, GA. He deeply loved science and history. In the dash of his life, he loved long and hard, worked long and hard, and played long and hard. In my humble eyes, he was a "great" man. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his wife, Kathy Gore Sizemore, three children; Dean Sizemore (Lynda), Tommy Sizemore, Crystal (Wade) Keen; four step-children, Ricky (Jamie) Tucker, Michael (Dana) Tucker, Lee (Melissa) Tucker, Jimmy (Trudy) Woodard, sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five brothers; Charles (Elizabeth) Sizemore, James (Johnne) Sizemore, Talmadge (Pam) Sizemore, two sisters, Nell (Wayne) Holmes, Susie (Harry) Yonce and numerous nieces and nephews.
