Eloise Adams Dozier

Eloise Adams Dozier died peacefully in her home, August 31, 2023, after an extended battle with the after-effects of Covid. Visitation will be at Kimbrell-Stern Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Morgan City Cemetery in Morgan, Georgia. The Reverend Keith Gaines will officiate. Mrs. Dozier was born in Morgan, Georgia on August 27, 1932, the daughter of the late John B. Adams and Jewell Adams. She graduated from Morgan High School and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she earned her B. S. Degree in Business Education. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Business Education from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. She taught at Morgan High School and at Albany Technical College, where she served as Chairperson of the Business Department for 17 years. She retired after teaching for 32 years. She has resided in Albany since 1953. In early years prior to a full-time teaching career, she was an active member of the Albany Junior Woman’s Club and the Albany Junior League. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult III Sunday School Class. She sang in the Joyful Saints Choir and was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir. Her interests included golf, bridge, travel, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart of 67 years, Tinsley Beck Dozier, Sr., and her sister, Sue Adams Martin. She is survived by her son, Tinsley Beck Dozier, Jr., her daughter, Kimberly Dozier Johnson, both of Albany, her granddaughter Meigan Johnson Miller (Clint) of Eatonton, GA, her grandson Walker Johnson (Kayla), of Warsaw, IN, her five great-grandchildren, Nora Miller, Julia Miller, Marshall Miller, Adley Johnson, and Robert Johnson III, her sister, Betty Adams Burkett of Houston, Texas, and 5 nieces and nephews, Cheryl Martin Waddell, Bill Martin (Paige) of Albany, Greg Burkett (Janet), Tim Burkett (Danna), both of Houston, TX, and the late Don Dozier (Bonnie) of Waycross, GA. While Eloise was a dedicated career woman for many years, her first priority was always her faith, her family, and her home. She was known for her smarts, her strong personality, her fierce passion for her beliefs, and her sense of adventure and fun. As the leader of her home, Eloise provided a solid foundation for her children to become independent and successful in life, and was influential in both of them choosing careers in education. Eloise was totally devoted to her husband and had a heart of pure gold!
