Mr. Doyt Gardner Brown

Doyt Gardner Brown, born September 11, 1937 in Kinston, NC, passed away Saturday morning, January 20, 2018 at Leesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease. HIs immediate family was present. Doyt Brown graduated from Troutman HIgh School North Carolina where he excelled in sports. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Erskine College, Due West, SC. He was a deacon at New Perth A.R. Presbyterian Church in Troutman, NC and a Ruling Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Albany, GA and he was a member of First United Methodist Church Albany, GA. He moved to Leesburg, GA in 1970 where he worked for Miles Plastering and Drywall. He became a partial owner of Southwest Plastering and Drywall. Then he began the local company of Ceiling and Walls Installation and Supply Company, INC in the early 1980’s and he sold and provided materials for countless construction jobs in the local area as well as throughout the state of Georgia. He completed countless renovations throughout the local area as well as throughout the state of Georgia. He was revered for his knowledge and high quality workmanship in the specialized construction of plastering and stucco. He enjoyed life in many different ways. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, golfing, fishing and playing with his many furry companions Beau, Thomasina, Bell (deceased), and Bud (deceased) and countless other strays throughout his life. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together and making “awesome” pepper jelly. He was a local member of the the Exchange Club of Albany where he activity participated in the numerous activities for over 30 years. He was the son of Doyt Griffieth Brown and Elsie Gardner Brown. He is survived by his wife, Martha Hamilton Brown. He is also survived by his sister Judy (Jerry) Ball of Troutman, NC and his Sister in law Peggy Brown (Mrs. William) of Hamptonville, NC. He is also survived by his children: Martha Hardy of South Pasadena, FL; Gilbert Brown (Carla) of Leesburg, GA; Betsey SIlva (George) of Virginia Beach, VA; Katherine (Ron) Hunter of Waynesville, NC. He is survived by grandchildren; Micheal and Ashley Hardy, David Hardy, Sarah Hardy,Gil Brown, Matt and Kristine Brown, Mark and Robert Silva. He is survived by his great grandchildren Kassius and Karter Hardy. He was preceded by his parents Doyt and Elsie Brown, his brother William Dowell Brown, and the mother of his children Sarah Elizabeth Peel also known as Peggy Brown. He is also survived by the children of Martha Hamilton Brown: Stuart (Zoe) Gardner, Kellie (Adam) Strange, and Jennie Gardner. He is also survived by the grandchildren of Martha Hamilton Brown: Josh, Macayla. Luke, and Riley Gardner and Lila and James Strange. You are welcome to join the family and friends at Kimbrell-Stern 1503 Dawson Rd, Albany, GA from 10:00 to 11:00AM Monday January 22, 2018. A service will be conducted at 11:00AM on Monday. The service will be conducted by Jerry Ball of Troutman, NC. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you make donations in Doyt Brown’s name to Exchange Club of Albany, GA.
