Christine B. Wilson Obituary

Christine B. Wilson of Albany, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Ms. Wilson was born in Baconton, GA on May 30, 1921 to the late William F. Brown and Elva S. Laws. She was a graduate of Baker County High School and later moved to Albany where she resided the rest of her life. She was married to Dewey B. Edwards until his death in 1956 and married Jack A. Wilson who preceded her death in 2005. Also preceding her in death were two brothers; William F. (Billy) Brown and Demar J. Brown. Survivors include three sons; Dewey Boyce Edwards (Frances) of Clemmons, NC; Randall Lee Edwards (Nancy) of Grapevine, TX; Gregory JacAllen Wilson of Albany, GA; and a stepdaughter, Janet Toth of Houston, TX. She is survived by five grandchildren; Missy Edwards Avent, Lisa Edwards (Jeff) Cranfill, Dewey Edwards (Jodi), all of Winston-Salem, NC; Kevin Edwards of Tulsa, OK; and Keith Edwards of Philadelphia, PA; Three great grandchildren; Mitchell Avent, Darby Avent and Lily Edwards of Winston-Salem, NC. She leaves behind her sister-in-laws; Betty Jane McDonald of Albany and Lora Mae Brown of Waycross, GA; along with nieces and nephews she cherished dearly. Ms. Wilson was a devoted member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Albany, GA since 1956. She loved her church and was blessed with many friendships there. She was a member of Eastern Star and worked tirelessly to support the contributions of her late husband, (Jack Wilson) to the V.F.W. Post as a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She had a deep affection for her family. She was an extraordinary cook, loved collecting cookbooks, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was fond of traveling and she and her mother had traveled to nearly every state. The family would like to express special gratitude to Christine Daniel and June Morris for all their help during her final days, along with Brother Billy Hanna and the members of Freewill Baptist Church for their many years of support. A visitation with the family will be held at First Free Will Baptist Church at 10:00am on Saturday, January 18 followed by a service at 11:00am. The Rev. Billy D. Hanna will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm at Travelers Rest Cemetery in Newton, GA. (Baker County) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Freewill Baptist Church of Albany, GA.
