Mr. Bob Gordon Kent

Bob G. Kent, 87, died Monday, June 11, 2018 at his residence in Georgetown, GA. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. Revs. Gene Wiseman and Kermit Soileau will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Bob was born in Wilcox County, Feb. 19, 1931. His family moved to Worth County when he was 9 years old, where his father was a farmer and his mother a homemaker. He attended public schools in Wilcox and Worth Counties. After enlisting in the US Army, August 17, 1949 Mr. Kent served in Korea from November 1950 until June 1951 until he was wounded March 24, 1951. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1952 as well as being a Purple Heart recipient. After working several jobs he found his niche working in the insurance business and was employed for 42 years in the insurance industry, retired with 32 years of service with Mutual of New York (MONY). Mr. Kent maintained an office for 25 years in Albany, GA, working in the field of Business and Estate Planning. His many accomplishments include, MONY Hall of Fame, Top Producer, Member Million Dollar Round Table, life member of both VFW and DAV, Korean War Veteran, Past President of Albany Assoc. of Life Underwriters, Charter member and served on Board of Directors Albany, GA Estate Planning Council, featured speaker of University of Alabama Estate Planning Seminar, supplied platform speaker for Estate Planning Seminar at the University of Georgia, past member of the YMCA for 20 years, former member and past president of Pecan City Peddlers (Albany Bicycle Club), former member of the Albany Exchange Club for 10 years, volunteer for Cardiac Care Unit at Phoebe Putney Hospital and a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. After retirement Bob worked summers with the US Army Corps of Engineers, managing camp grounds and day use areas, as well as volunteer work with the state parks of Georgia and Florida. Survivors include his wife since 1979, Norma F. Kent, 2 sons, Danny Kent of Ellaville, GA and Johnnie Kent of Georgetown, GA, a daughter, Janice Kent Chambers of Macclenny, FL, 3 step daughters, Leisa Greene Stewart of Albany, Paula Greene Harden of Thomaston, GA and Cathy Greene Ashberry of Thomaston, GA, a step son, Bruce Harvey Greene of Leesburg, GA, 2 sisters, Joyce Hunter and Louise Keene, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren as well as great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
