Randy Riley

Randy passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 25, 2023 after battling metastatic neck and bone cancer. Although we all prayed and believed for a different outcome, we are relieved that he is no longer in the unbearable pain that plagued him for the last few months of his life. Randy grew up in Albany, Georgia, where he was blessed with strong family roots and many life-long friends. He was a long-time airline employee, working for a few airlines that all merged over the years; he started with Republic, then Eastern, and spent many years with Northwest Airlines. He finally retired with Delta Airlines in 2020 after a wonderful 40 year career which took him to cities and stations across the country such as MSP, MCO, HDN, VPS, MEM, and lastly back home at PNS. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Rat and Sissy Riley and his brother, Ed Riley. Randy made so many friends throughout his life. He was well-loved by everyone that knew him. Everybody knew him to be happy, smiling, positive, easy-going, and enjoyable to be around. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, friend and dedicated employee. He courageously fought his brutal diagnosis with his strong faith in God and his unwavering dedication to a healthy lifestyle. He beat the first cancer diagnosis in 2012 with God’s help and by working hard to keep his body strong and free of any illness. He was extraordinarily healthy for many years and we were all in disbelief when the cancer returned. He continued to fight for his life and hold onto his faith even after he fell and broke his hip in June, at which time he was given the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his bones. At that time Cathy began to take off work frequently to take him to appointments and to care for him at home. Randy is survived by his wife: Cathy; daughter: Addie; mother and father in law: Gloria and Neil Cline; 2 sisters: Martha Glenn “Duster” Burnett and Reames Clanton (Bill); numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating the life of Randy Riley will be at 11 AM Central Time on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at New Life Church, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
